OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2 (TWO) SCHOLARSHIPS PIBIC 2021-22

22/07/2021 10:50
WHAT ABOUT LEARNING TO PRODUCE NANOMATERIALS USING MECHANICAL ENERGY AND CHARACTERIZE THEM USING X-RAYS, ELECTRONS, LASER AND MANY COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS?
Research Project aims to train human resources specialized in the use of experimental Physics techniques, such as Polycrystals X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Raman Spectroscopy (ER), in the characterization of the physical properties of nanomaterials and organic crystals produced by various methods of synthesis, especially mechanochemistry. See the multi-user facilities available to develop the activities in this project: LabCAMLCMELDRX and LNLS/CNPEM . Five IC students have already been carrying out experiments in the old LNLS accelerator (UVX, approved proposals for the use of beamlines DXAS, XDS, XDR1).

–The scholarship holder must be indicated by the 25/08/2021 for entry on the 1st payroll (for September and credited in October).

Marcelo wins “ROBERT L. SNYDER STUDENT AWARD” for the second time!

15/07/2021 12:50

Master’s student at PPGFSC-UFSC, Marcelo Augusto Malagutti, was awarded for the second consecutive time with the “ROBERT L. SNYDER STUDENT AWARD” award and will present work orally at the Denver X-ray Conference, which will take place between August 2nd and 6th 2021, virtually this year due to the pandemic.

Discente do PPGFSC, Marcelo Augusto Malagutti

The work entitled “Structural and Microstructural X-Ray Diffraction Analysis of the β-CoTe Nanophase Synthesized by Mechanochemistry: Anisotropic Size and Microstrain Modeling” (D-21 of the  General XRD session) is a compilation of the 1st article published by the student in co-authorship with Prof Carlos EM Campos (advisor), the newly graduated doctor from PPGFSC-UFSC, Kelli de Fátima Ulbrich, in close cooperation with researchers Julian Geshev and Vagner Zeizer Carvalho Paes, from the Physics Institute of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. The student will present recent results of his studies on the microstructure of nanocrystalline materials produced by him using more sophisticated mathematical models to explain experimental data from their samples analyzed in various X-Ray diffraction laboratories (including the LDRX-UFSC,  (including synchrotron light sources such as LNLS e SLS).

Parabéns Marcelo!

Master student at PPGFSC receives award at International Conference

20/07/2020 10:47

PPGFSC-UFSC master student, Marcelo Augusto Malagutti, was awarded the”ROBERT L. SNYDER STUDENT AWARD” and will present an oral presentation at the renowned international conference on X-ray diffraction, Denver X-ray Conference, which will take place between 03 and 07 August 2020, virtually this year due to the pandemic.

Marcelo Augusto Malagutti (jul2020);

The work entitled “Challenges on the Microstructural Characterization of Nanocrystalline Alloys Produced by Mechanochemistry” (D-84 da sessão Rietveld)  has been developed at the Physics Department at UFSC under the guidance of Prof Carlos EM Campos in close cooperation with Italian researchers from the ToScaLab group from “Universitá Degli Studi Dell’Insubria (UNINSUBRIA)” and the “Institute of Crystallography of the Italian (CNR)”.  The student has had the opportunity to learn about the Total Scattering method with experimental data from his samples analyzed in several X-ray diffraction laboratories (including LDRX-UFSC,   synchrotron light sources such as LNLS and SLS).  It is worth mentioning that this partnership was formalized through an international agreement between UFSC and the Italian university.
